Artist's statement:
I am a self-taught artist which means I like to draw and have been drawing since I could hold a pencil. Drawing is expression. Whether you are packing an art history degree or just like building sandcastles at the beach, you are an artist. I am enchanted by humanity and, over the past decade, have tried to capture glimpses of human expression, feelings and intensity.
In 1993, with all my stuff and a college degree packed in my truck, I headed west to work in show business. I found film work, and, between shows, I drew for myself and to decorate my Hollywood apartment. In 1996, I started to go "big". One early piece, a charcoal of a young Mick Jagger drawn on found brown paper, found its way to the sidewalk. I remember the sound of screeching tires and some Hollywood hipster yelling, "That's Mick Jagger! How Much?!!"
That first sale was a rush. The rush was more for the appreciation than the money. Since then, my artwork has been in blues bars and rock bars, at various festivals, at Wild About Music gallery in Austin, Texas and on the web at chcimages.com. Focusing on cleared art rentals geared to the TV/Film industry, I opened Atmosphere Art Rentals in 2006. Atmosphere features cleared artworks from select artists available for rent at virtually any size.
Some music really burns inside me and I hope that is reflected in my work.
Thanks,
— CHC
